Attending a wedding in Asheville: a guest's travel guide

Asheville has become one of the most-invited-to mountain wedding towns in the country — Blue Ridge views, a walkable arts-and-brewery downtown, and the Biltmore Estate as a backdrop. Getting there
Asheville Regional (AVL) is small but growing, with direct flights from a number of East Coast and southern hubs; if fares are steep or your city has no direct, flying into Charlotte (CLT) and driving about two hours is a common, cheaper alternative. You will likely want a car
Downtown Asheville is walkable, but many of the region's best venues are up in the mountains — Black Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks, or private estates on winding roads where rideshares are scarce and expensive after dark. If your venue is outside town, plan on a rental car, ideally shared with other guests, and a designated driver for the reception.
Where to stay
- Downtown Asheville. Walkable to restaurants, breweries, and the arts scene, and central if your venue is in or near town — but the highest rates, especially in fall.
- Biltmore Village or West Asheville. A short drive from downtown, often a better value, and handy if the wedding is on that side of town.
- Near the venue. If the ceremony is up in Black Mountain or along the Parkway, a place nearby saves you a dark mountain drive each way.
