Privacy Policy
PlusOne is a free tool that helps wedding guests estimate and track the cost of attending weddings. This policy explains what information is and is not collected when you use it.
Your budget data stays on your device
The weddings, amounts, dates, and any private notes you enter are saved only in your own web browser using localStorage. This information is never transmitted to, or stored on, any PlusOne server — because PlusOne has no server that receives it. Clearing your browser data, switching browsers or devices, or using private/incognito mode will remove or hide this data. Use "Back up to a file" to keep a copy you control.
Share and backup links embed your own data
When you use "Share my season", PlusOne encodes the season data you entered — which may include any names or locations you typed — into the link itself (in the part after the "#", which is never sent to a server). Anyone you give the link to can read that data, and the link is a snapshot: later edits are not reflected in an old link. Your private Quick Links notes are never included in a share link. A backup file likewise contains the data you entered; keep it somewhere you trust.
Analytics
When analytics is enabled, we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool, to measure aggregate page views only. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not track you across sites. If analytics is not enabled, no analytics script is loaded at all.
Advertising and cookies
We show non-personalized ads through Google AdSense. Non-personalized ads are not based on your past behavior; they may still use a limited amount of information (such as your approximate, coarse location and the content of the current page) for frequency capping, aggregate reporting, and fraud prevention. Ads only load if you choose "Accept" in the consent notice — if you "Decline", no ad script is loaded. You can manage Google ad settings at google.com/settings/ads.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links (to travel, lodging, attire-rental, and gift-registry merchants) are affiliate links marked "#ad". When you click one, the destination merchant may set its own cookies and record the referral. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Your choices (US residents)
You can decline ads entirely using the "Decline" option in the consent notice. You can also use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link in the footer; when you do, the footer shows a persistent "✓ You've opted out of personalized ads" confirmation you can see and undo at any time. Because we serve only non-personalized ads, this opt-out is honored for you by default — no personalized ad is ever served.
Why "Do Not Sell or Share" appears here
You may wonder why this link exists when PlusOne keeps all of your budget data on your own device and has no server that receives it. The reason is the advertising, not our storage. When we serve personalized Google AdSense ads, the ad network reads cookie, device, and similar information to target those ads. Under California's CPRA, that counts as a "sale" or "share" of personal information — even though we never receive or store it ourselves. California law therefore requires us to offer a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" opt-out and to honor it, which we do through Google's Restricted Data Processing and Global Privacy Control signals. It is triggered by the ad technology, not by anything PlusOne stores. If we serve only non-personalized ads, this opt-out is no longer legally required.
Children
PlusOne is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
